Buzz, Baa, and Felt! A Sweet New Workshop is Coming to the Farm

You know our farm for its soft, fluffy wool and our happy herd of sheep, but this fall, we're buzzing with a new kind of energy—the kind that comes from a beehive!

We are so excited to announce our newest workshop, a creative and truly unique event that celebrates the beautiful connection between our woolly friends and their hardworking pollinator pals: Felting Honey Bees!

Why Felting Bees on a Sheep Farm?

It might seem like an unusual combination, but it's a perfect fit. Here at the farm, we're all about appreciating the natural world and the incredible cycles it holds. Our sheep give us their beautiful fleece, which we lovingly transform into yarn, homegood products and felted art. And what's an ecosystem without its pollinators? Without honey bees, our pastures wouldn't be as lush, and the flowers that grow here wouldn't thrive.

This workshop is a celebration of that relationship. It's a chance to use the very wool our sheep provide to create a charming, felted honey bee to take home. We'll be using the art of needle felting—a simple and fun technique that anyone can learn. With a special felting needle and some of our farm's own wool, you'll sculpt your own little buzzing friend, complete with tiny felted wings and stripes.

To add to the BUZZ. We’ll have our local beekeeper, Joey Greene owner and chief beekeeper @ Buttermilk Bees here to tell you all about his job and his bees. Why Buttermilk Bees? Come see for yourself but we love their commitment to sustainable and humane practices!

What to Expect at the Workshop

Our class will be held outside our cozy, rustic barn, with the gentle sounds of the farm animals in the background. It's a peaceful and inspiring setting for a creative afternoon.

  • Hands-on instruction: Our instructors will guide you step-by-step through the process of needle felting. No experience is necessary—we'll provide all the tools and wool you need.

  • A deeper connection to the farm: While you work, we'll talk about the role of bees in agriculture and how our farm works to support them. You'll leave not just with a new piece of “bee” art and some honey from Buttermilk bees, but with a new appreciation for these amazing insects.

  • Refreshments and relaxation: We'll have homemade “honey” treats to enjoy while you create. This is a chance to slow down, connect with nature, and get creative in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.

This is more than just a class; it's a chance to be part of our farm's story and gain a better understanding of the life and the gifts of the honeybee, direct from the beekeeper himself. It's an experience that brings together the best of our rural life and farmers from our area—the soft warmth of wool, the vital work of the honey bee and beekeeper, and the joy of creating something beautiful with your own two hands.

Space is limited to ensure a cozy and personalized experience. We can't wait to see you there!

By purchasing a ticket, your name will go into our raffle to win a special handmade gift.
